Delta Waterfowl Welcomes Christy Sweigart as Communications Intern

Delta Waterfowl is pleased to welcome Christy Sweigart to the organization as its summer 2021 communications intern. Sweigart will write media releases promoting Delta’s mission, spend time in North Dakota covering Delta’s duck production programs, review gear items from Delta partners, and assist with many other facets of Delta’s communications strategy.

“As a hunter passionate about the future of waterfowl, and as a student passionate about conservation, I could not think of a better organization to spend the summer alongside,” Sweigart said. “I’m excited to learn from such a motivated group of people.”

Native to Colorado, Sweigart grew up immersed in nature and the western lifestyle. Hunting, fishing and rodeo were second nature to her and her family. This sparked her passion for the outdoors and ultimately shaped her career path.

On a warm opening day on the bank of the Cache la Poudre River, and with the guidance of her close mentor, she shot her first duck: a mallard drake. The adrenaline rush and camaraderie she felt transformed the sport into one of her greatest passions, which helped lead her to Delta Waterfowl.

“The Duck Hunters Organization is excited that Christy is joining us for the next 12 weeks,” said Kyle Wintersteen, managing editor of Delta Waterfowl. “She’s an avid waterfowler, and I’m confident she’ll gain valuable career skills while helping deliver on Delta’s mission to produce ducks and secure the future of duck hunting.”

Sweigart is pursuing her degree at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, where she majors in natural resource tourism with a minor in business administration. When she is not in a duck blind, you can find her boating, spending time with friends and family, and enjoying all of the outdoor recreation Colorado has to offer.
