Bismarck, North Dakota, native, Cole Gendreau first began hunting with his father and grandfather on parcels of his family’s land. From there, his passion and creativity paired with his love for the outdoors and placed him in the realm of outdoor media creation.

“I am most passionate about being creative,” Gendreau said. “Whether it is through film or photography, I am excited by being able to capture moments in creative and visually pleasing ways and to be able to share those moments with others.”

His background includes schooling from the University of Mary in Bismarck, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in communication and media production with a minor in art. His university experience also happens to be where he became acquainted with The Duck Hunters Organization.

“I visited Delta Waterfowl for a school project and met the media creator who had come before me,” he said. “So, when I saw the job opening, I was instantly interested and applied.”

His role includes creating relevant and on-brand media for the organization, from photography to film and more. His history of hunting and love for the outdoors made him a perfect fit for the role—though, he claims upland as his favorite type of hunting.

“Because of the location of our family land, I grew up pheasant hunting and it is still my favorite thing to hunt,” said Gendreau. “As I got older and busier, it got tougher to travel back to that area, so I got into duck and goose hunting around Bismarck and fell in love with it.”

When he is not working, you can find him spending time with his family, fiancé, and 90-pound Bernedoodle, Summit,—or somewhere outdoors, hiking, hunting, or golfing.
