Texas Chapter Hosts 13th Annual Youth Day
For more than a decade, the Greater Longview Chapter of Delta Waterfowl in Longview, Texas, has worked passionately to recruit and educate the next generation of waterfowlers. On April 9, the chapter hosted 52 boys and girls under age 17 for the 13th Annual Dennis Blevins Memorial Youth Day at Prairie Creek Ranch in Gladewater, Texas.
The fun-filled day included a presentation by Texas game warden Todd Long, a retriever demonstration by Maximum Intensity Retrievers and clay shooting lessons from certified instructors. The Greater Longview Chapter provided all food, shotshells and shotguns, and gave away Delta T-shirts and hats, duck whistles and door prizes to all children in attendance. Two kids even went home with new shotguns.
“The youth day is one of the main reasons we participate as a Delta Waterfowl chapter,” said Dan Flournoy, youth day coordinator. “It’s our chance to give back to the youth by educating them about conservation, teaching them to be responsible hunters, and encouraging them to be energetic and enthusiastic about waterfowling.”

The children are the future of hunting and conservation of wildlife and wild places. Every adult should be involved in education of the next hunter. Be a mentor and share your knowledge. Keep up the great work Delta. Wilson Stout. Texas
