Ohio Chapter Helps Take 58 Kids Fishing
The Tri-County Chapter of Delta Waterfowl in Fostoria, Ohio, has a passion for helping children connect with the outdoors through duck hunting, and sometimes, even fishing. Last May, the chapter co-sponsored the Geary Family YMCA Youth Fishing Derby for kindergarten and grade-school youths.
Despite drizzly conditions, 58 local kids received free fishing tackle and enjoyed a fun-filled day of reeling in bluegills and largemouth bass. Tri-County Chapter chairman Dot Colbert and chapter volunteer Bill Moyer were on hand to help bait hooks and release fish. The kids also got to meet professional bass angler Jason Root, who provided expert instruction and signed autographs for the young anglers.
“I’m proud of the Tri-County Chapter committee’s dedication to helping kids develop an interest in the outdoors through a variety of means,” said Eric Webb, regional director for Delta Waterfowl. “Tri-County is inspiring future conservationists.”
