BISMARCK, NORTH DAKOTA — A new addition, Christopher Hoon, joins The Duck Hunters Organization as manager of government affairs for the Pacific Flyway. Hoon will work with Delta Waterfowl’s policy team to advance and advocate for legislation protecting the rights of duck hunters on the west coast.

Hoon’s work in the Pacific flyway will address an extensive amount of policy issues around firearms, state agency commissions, hunting access, and—most importantly—water.

“The Pacific Flyway is an area that has a ton of complex policy issues impacting ducks and duck hunters,” said Cyrus Baird, Delta’s senior director of government affairs. “I’m excited for him to get in, get his feet wet and interact with our staff, members, volunteers and partners on the west coast.”

Hoon brings with him a background in public affairs and political sciences including a bachelor’s degree in political science with minors in economics and anthropology from the University of Oregon. Hoon is also an avid hunter who grew up in the Sacramento area wing-shooting over his family’s rice fields. He currently resides in the Central Valley of California.

With an education in political sciences, economics, and anthropology, and his background in hunting and agriculture, Hoon brings a unique and well-rounded perspective to the Delta Waterfowl team.

“Working for Delta is a dream job because I get to help ducks and duck hunters every day while working with a team of like-minded individuals,” said Hoon.
