July 26, 2023

LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS — When the waterfowl hunting world convenes on Friday, July 28 for the Delta Waterfowl Duck Hunters EXPO, it’s fitting that the opening salvo—the show’s first hail call—would come from Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, a duck hunter herself and champion of the outdoor economy in the Natural State.

Gov. Sanders will open the EXPO during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:45 a.m. Friday in the main entrance of the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.

“We’re honored that Gov. Sanders will join us to celebrate conservation, ducks, and duck hunting in the great state of Arkansas,” said Dr. Scott Petrie, chief executive officer of Delta Waterfowl. “Our board of directors, staff, volunteers, and members deeply appreciate the governor’s passion for duck hunting and her belief in the economic and recreational benefits it brings to the people of Arkansas and throughout North America.”

Gov. Sanders was inaugurated in January as the first female governor of Arkansas. Before being elected as the state’s 47th governor, she served as White House press secretary from 2017 to 2019 for President Trump. In Arkansas, Sanders has enacted reforms to education, public safety, taxes, and state government. She also introduced the Natural State Initiative to grow the outdoor economy of Arkansas.

“Arkansas is home to the finest duck hunting on the face of the earth,” said Gov. Sanders. “We are proud to host this year’s Delta Waterfowl Duck Hunters EXPO in our capital city and welcome sportsmen, conservationists, and industry leaders from around the country. This is a chance to show tens of thousands of duck hunters the promise of Arkansas’ natural beauty and outdoor economy.”

Delta’s 2023 EXPO, which is presented by Federal Premium Ammunition, returns to Arkansas after drawing 23,500 people last year. It’s a major celebration, bringing together a who’s who of the waterfowl hunting world.

The 80,000-square-foot show floor is loaded with hundreds of exhibits, where you can find all the gear you’ll need for the upcoming hunting season. The Expo’s many attractions include the Duck Dog Stage presented by Eukanuba and Lucky Duck, the Duck Hunters Stage presented by Benelli, and the Delta Waterfowl Stage presented by BOSS Shotshells and First Lite. In addition, the Expo features a Duck Dog Parade, Callmakers Championship, the World Championship Cutdown Duck Calling Contest, and the Duck Hunters Grand Banquet.
