Ariel Grange Somes brings a lifetime of hunting experience, an innovative spirit, and an enthusiasm for recruiting new hunters—especially women and those lacking hunting families—to Delta Waterfowl. A professional horse trainer, Somes owns an elite equestrian stable and competes on the sport’s biggest stages, including the World Equestrian Games and European Championships. Somes also owns and operates multiple small businesses within Inglewood, Ontario.

In her free time, Somes most enjoys hunting with her husband on their properties in Collingwood and Iron Bridge, Ontario, and throughout Canada and the United States. Even their honeymoon included a trip to the Yukon and Northwest Territories in pursuit of moose, caribou, and Dall sheep. Somes is an avid waterfowler and upland bird hunter, too, joined most often by her husband and—her constant sidekick—her black Lab, Hazard.

A new mom as of January 2023, Somes is excited to contribute fresh ideas and perspectives to Delta’s Board of Directors.

“It is an honor to sit on the Board of Delta Waterfowl, especially as a younger member of the team,” she said. “Not only is it my passion for bird hunting that drives my enthusiasm for the work that Delta does, but also to raise my son in a lifestyle that my husband and I love and encompass into our lives so whole heartedly.”
