Spring Issue Celebrates Hen House Expansions, Snow Goose Seasons
Spring is on the horizon, which means one thing at The Duck Hunters Organization: It’s time to manage predators, install new Hen Houses and make some ducks! Delta Waterfowl’s passionate, innovative and efficient efforts have even inspired fellow waterfowlers a hemisphere away to adopt one of our duck production programs.
The cover story in the Spring Issue of Delta Waterfowl magazine, “Making Ducks ‘Down Under’,” reveals how hunter-conservationists are using Delta’s Hen House blueprint to boost waterfowl populations in Australia. If nothing else, you won’t want to miss the incredible photos of Pacific black ducks and chestnut teal.
Ready for some snow geese spiraling above your spread? In a stunning photo essay, “Shifting Snows,” Delta digital media creator Ben Peterson beautifully illustrates why warmer weather and light geese awaken the hunter’s soul.
You’ll also get an inside-look at Delta editor Paul Wait’s hugely anticipated book, “Delta Waterfowl: How The Duck Hunters Organization Shaped Waterfowl Conservation in North America.” Richly illustrated with paintings by famed waterfowl artists, the comprehensive work is an enjoyable dive into the successes — and occasional setbacks — of Delta’s 110-year mission to boost our continent’s beloved duck populations.
Delta was founded by duck hunters, an enduring legacy that led to today’s efforts to fight for duck hunting anytime, anywhere it’s threatened. In “Delta Defends the Hunt,” managing editor Kyle Wintersteen explores the scope of Delta’s promise to beat back hunting bans and onerous regulations at every level of government.
Rounding out the issue’s features, you’ll preview images from an upcoming Delta Original Film Series, “The Duck Connection.” What is the ‘connection,’ you ask? Good duck hunting in the South is massively dependent upon good duck production in the North. Follow the journey from Delta’s efforts to make ducks to hunters enjoying the fruits of our labor: Ducks over decoys.
As always, the Spring Issue carries a full slate of informative and entertaining columns such as Duck Dogs, Shotgunning, Strategies, Waterfowl Chef and Traditions to help you get the most from your waterfowl season.
The only way to receive Delta Waterfowl magazine is to join The Duck Hunters Organization. If you are a member, thank you for your support. The Spring Issue will arrive soon!
