Delta Welcomes New Regional Director for Alabama
Chris Spencer will support Delta’s volunteers in Alabama with fundraising events, recruitment, and the development of new chapters to further the organization’s mission
Chris Spencer is Delta Waterfowl’s new regional director for Alabama.
In his role, Spencer will lead Delta’s existing chapters and establish new ones across the state, with a focus on organizing successful fundraising events to further Delta’s mission of producing ducks and securing the future of waterfowl hunting in North America.
“I love getting to see someone fall in love with waterfowl,” Spencer said. “One of the most exciting things about the work Delta is doing is making sure this tradition (of waterfowl hunting) is carried on and preserved. One day, I hope to see that same excitement in my children’s eyes when they see cupped wings over decoys.”
Originally from a small town north of Panama City, Florida, Spencer moved to Alabama after high school, where he was introduced to and quickly became hooked on waterfowl hunting. After spending the next decade living between Tampa and Memphis, he decided to settle down in north Alabama, where he currently resides.
“During my time in Florida, I saw firsthand how Delta stood up for local duck hunters, partnering with us to protect access to hunting grounds,” he said. Inspired by the organization’s actions, he assumed his current position as the committee chair of his local Delta chapter near Florence, Alabama.
“Chris joins the Delta Waterfowl team after years of dedication as a volunteer,” said Chris Williams, Delta’s director of events—Atlantic team. “His passion for the organization, the local impact he has made through his continued efforts, and his leadership skills in the field make him an outstanding addition to our team. We are thrilled to have Chris on board and look forward to the growth he will help foster in Alabama.”
Outside of duck season, you can find him chasing turkeys in the woods, training his black Lab, Dugan, or spending time with his wife and kids.
