Director of Events – West Region

Location:Covering a territory bounded by Wyoming/Colorado/New Mexico in the east stretching west to California, and north from British Columbia to Newfoundland and Labrador

Delta Waterfowl is The Duck Hunters Organization, a leading conservation group founded in 1911.  We work to produce ducks through intensive management programs and conservation of breeding duck habitat. Delta conducts vital waterfowl research and promotes and protects the continuing tradition of waterfowl hunting in North America.

Delta’s international headquarters is located in Bismarck, North Dakota.  Currently, our dedicated team consists of almost 100 employees, of which about half work within our headquarters office and the other half work remotely throughout the US and Canada.  Our organization has experienced tremendous growth over the last few years and this is expected to continue.  This is an exciting time for Delta as we look to the future, and we are looking for talented and skilled individuals who have a passion to perform meaningful work to join our team!

This position is responsible for the development of Delta Waterfowl Regional Directors within a designated region.  Make a difference in the world of waterfowl conservation while enjoying the benefits of a supportive work environment. Join Delta Waterfowl Foundation as our new Director of Events in this area and be part of a dedicated team working to secure the future of duck production, habitat conservation, research as well as hunter recruitment, retention, and reactivation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Manage, train, evaluate and provide ongoing support of new and existing Regional Directors.
  2. Develop and oversee event revenue, budgets, and forecasts, utilizing effective structures and strategies.
  3. Work closely with the VP of Events to define and achieve growth and fundraising goals for the Events Team.
  4. Assistance with compliance issues related to gaming and alcohol permits, including state, federal, and provincial matters, as well as communications.
  5. Partner with and/or assist Directors and Sr. Director of Development Operations in a variety of activities (i.e. assembly of national package order, chapter achievement-recognition programs,  and the acquisition of merchandise).
  6. Develop, foster, and maintain relationships with a variety of Delta industry partners and vendors.
  7. Professionally represent Delta by attending industry conferences or tradeshows.
  8. Partner with Delta staff and teams to create agendas, campaigns, and content that meet identified purposes and engagement targets (i.e. UHP, MDC, WHF, Migration Reports, Policy-Advocacy Reports) and facilitate proper program deliveries.
  9. Promote teamwork with Major Gifts and Events to ensure organizational standards are met.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High school diploma or equivalent and at least five years of related fundraising or sales experience.
  2. Proven experience in management and leadership.

  6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to respond to change.
  7. Must be organized and able to prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Total proficiency in Delta Waterfowl’s mission and the ability to present this message using various tools.
  9. A valid driver’s license with good driving record.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate verbally and nonverbally. The position duties require dexterity in using telephone, computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and other office equipment. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and navigate stairs.  The employee must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.  Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  Generally, this position is required to work in both an office and field environment as well as large venue locations such as a hotel, restaurant, conference and/or convention center.  Frequent travel by car and airplane is required to fulfil the duties of this position.
