Controller/Senior Accountant
Location: Headquarters Office in Bismarck, ND
Delta Waterfowl is The Duck Hunters Organization, a leading conservation group founded in 1911. Delta’s international headquarters is located in Bismarck, North Dakota. Currently, our dedicated team consists of almost 100 employees, of which about half work within our headquarters office and the other half work remotely throughout the US and Canada. Our organization has experienced tremendous growth over the last few years, and this is expected to continue. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible to perform a wide range of accounting activities, including:
- Receives, sorts, corrects, reviews and supervises reconciliations of a variety of invoices and bank statements.
- Posts data to appropriate accounts, reviews and codes financial information, and completes deposit process.
- Assists with monthly and annual financial statements
- Assist with budget tracking and reconciling database to financial records.
- Partner with CFO and audit firm to complete annual financial audit processes, budgeting.
- Payment of US and Canadian invoices.
- Supervises, prepares, files and assists with a variety of required financial reports, including:
- State Regulatory filings
- Quarterly reporting (Job Service, Sales Tax, Gaming filings, etc.)
- Works with the Organizations Event Department for establishment of Chapters including preparation of 990’s and other federal and state required filings.
- Serve as a lead partner in the establishment and deployment of accounting and financial software systems and data management.
- Prepare special reports for other managers, CEO, VPO, and development leads.
- Assist in development, execution and enforcement of internal controls, policies and procedures.
- Participate in regular departmental and management meetings.
- Supervises other accounting staff.
- BACKUP to HR for biweekly payroll processes, including:
- Accurate compilation and entry of payroll data
- calculation of amounts to be paid,
- timely reporting to our payroll companies and
- related records retention.
- Transfers money to payroll accounts according to company policy.
- Preparation of 401k template for upload.
- Serves as BACKUP administrator for all credit card accounts, including:
- Opens and sets up accounts for new employees and closes accounts when necessary,
- Orders replacement cards, adjusts credit limits when requested,
- Resets passwords.
- Ensure all charges are appropriately reflected and coded for our records.
- Handle credit card account maintenance
- Reclassifies expenses
- Runs GL monthly reports.
- Follows up with all staff when expense reports, credit card receipts and other forms are not received by deadlines.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and at least five years of related professional experience required. CPA or master’s in accounting preferred.
- Oracle’s NetSuite experience preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong emotional intelligence and the ability to effectively work with a variety of people in a team environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Organized with attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Requires limited out-of-state travel (i.e., twice per year).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and listen. The employee requires dexterity in using telephone, computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and other office equipment. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and navigate stairs. The employee must lift and move up to 40 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position is in an office work environment.
