Delta Waterfowl License Plates Coming to Kansas in July
Purchasing a specialty plate with Delta’s logo will support the organization’s mission
BISMARCK, NORTH DAKOTA — Kansans will soon be able to show their support for The Duck Hunters Organization on the road while helping to fund waterfowl conservation through the purchase of a Delta Waterfowl specialty license plate.
Gov. Laura Kelly signed Senate Bill 403 into law earlier this month, which established the license plate program in the Sunflower State. The plates, featuring the Delta Waterfowl logo, will be available for purchase starting July 1, 2026. Sales will fund the maintenance and growth of Delta’s Duck Production programs and waterfowl research.
“Kansas hunters will now have another outlet to serve as stewards of wildlife and wetland conservation,” said Jeff Wardlaw, Delta’s senior manager of government affairs for the Mississippi and Central flyways. “Each license plate purchase will help fund crucial Delta programs that are designed to put more ducks over your decoys.”
House Bill 2585, the original legislation to create a Delta Waterfowl license plate in Kansas, was initially defeated by a rule of the House. Through the consistent efforts of Delta's policy team, advocacy from volunteers and hunters across the state, and support from leaders such as Kansas Rep. Shannon Francis, the provision was amended into SB 403 and carried across the finish line. With this success, Kansas joins states including Mississippi and Louisiana in offering hunters a Delta Waterfowl license plate to support the organization's mission.
“Our policy team counts this as a win for ducks and duck hunters not just in Kansas, but across the continent,” Wardlaw said. “The more avenues we have to support Delta’s work, the more resources that are available to ensure the future of waterfowl hunting in North America.”
