Low snow winters - bad for ducks; good for pheasants

Yesterday I was the bearer of bad news about dry habitat and reduced duck numbers in North Dakota.

All of us duck folks would like to see more snow and melt water, but North Dakota Pheasants survive way better with less snow.

Overwinter adult survival was high, and spring Pheasant crowing counts were up 9%. All indications suggest a great production year.
