Grebe Comparison

Todd took this great photo that shows two very similar species – Clark’s Grebe on left and Western Grebe on the right.

Unlike many sister species, these guys have amazingly similar breeding ranges. Western Grebes just go a bit farther east and north in Manitoba. 

Westerns used to nest in big colonies at Delta, but no longer.  I suspect this reflects the loss of nesting islands.
