Bpop report out - not all bad news

I’m sure you heard that the annual breeding population results were released. The news was mostly as expected: the prairies are dry and dabblers are down.

But there were two bright spots – Cans and Scaup were both up 13% over last year.

Cans numbers were to be expected, as the parklands were wet. The Scaup increase is more of a mystery.
