Delta Waterfowl Welcomes John Woodard as Chief Financial Officer
Woodard will focus on further developing and implementing the financial strategy of The Duck Hunters Organization™
BISMARCK, NORTH DAKOTA — John Woodard has joined Delta Waterfowl as chief financial officer. In this position, Woodard will play a strategic role in the overall deployment of the financial and administrative operations of Delta that support the organization’s mission of ensuring the future of waterfowl hunting in North America.
“We are pleased to have John as part of Delta Waterfowl,” said Delta CEO Jason Tharpe. “His proven leadership skills in financial analysis and an ability to translate data into strategic tools are invaluable assets that will continue to ensure the financial health and integrity of our organization.”
Woodard, a long-time waterfowl hunter from Southaven, Mississippi, joins Delta with more than 15 years of experience in financial and organizational leadership. Prior to joining Delta, he served in several senior leadership roles over the last 11 years at Drake Waterfowl. He also served as Drake’s interim CEO after private equity backed acquisition of the company in 2021, overseeing yearly sales growth in the face of unprecedented global supply chain challenges.
“I’m looking forward to leading Delta’s finance and operations in a way that supports and enhances the work of staff across the entire organization,” Woodard said. “Along the way, we’ll assess and adapt in order to drive strategic growth with the ultimate goal in mind to support duck hunters and put more ducks in the fall flight.”
Woodard first became involved with Delta Waterfowl in 2009 when he and some friends opened a chapter in West Point, Mississippi. The group chose Delta due to the organization’s commitment to science-based solutions to produce ducks — a value echoed in Woodard’s own ethos as a duck hunter.
“Delta’s focus on initiatives like Predator Management and Hen Houses drew me to the organization,” he said. “Those fundamental values — focusing on authentic, real-life solutions to produce ducks — still resonate with me today. I’m happy to now have a hand in the direction of that mission, which impacts duck hunters throughout the continent.”
