Delta Waterfowl Crowns Seth Fields as Winner of Delta Grand National Duck Calling Contest
Handmade call brings home Delta Grand National Double Reed title for Tennessee native at the Delta Waterfowl Expo
OKLAHOMA CITY — Seth Fields of McKenzie, Tennessee, claimed the champion title at the 2025 Delta Waterfowl Double Reed Grand National duck calling contest July 26 during the 4th annual Delta Waterfowl Duck Hunters Expo in Oklahoma City. Fields earned top honors among the field of 13 outstanding callers in the competition presented by Drake Waterfowl.
“It means so much to me,” Fields said. “Thank you so much to Delta Waterfowl for this awesome opportunity and everything that went into it, and everyone that played a part in making it possible.”
Fields won the Delta Grand Nation with a homemade call that he turned on his own lathe in his shop back in Tennessee. He added that winning with a call that he crafted himself “is just so special. The sense of accomplishment is hard to put into words.”
Jim Ronquest, vice president of development for Drake Waterfowl, said he was happy to see the great level of interest in the 2nd Annual Delta Grand National calling contest.
“Most competitive calling contests are dominated by single-reed duck calls,” he said. “In Delta’s event, you’re required to use a double-reed call in which the top reed is at least half the length of the bottom reed. Because double reeds are so commonly used by many duck hunters, it’s my hope that this format will bring some new blood into the calling contest scene. The Delta Grand National is proving that’s the case!”
Delta Waterfowl, Benelli USA, Federal Ammunition, and Drake Waterfowl sponsored the contest.
As champion, Fields name was added to the Delta Grand National Trophy, and he won a 20-gauge Benelli Super Black Eagle 3 shotgun, plus nearly $2,000 in cash and prizes.
Second place went to Chandler Martin of Paducah, Kentucky, who won $1,200 in cash and prizes. Other top finishers included 3rd place Cory Niccum of Gardner, Texas; 4th place Stacy Stough of Prattville, Alabama; and 5th place Thomas Bolding of Guthrie, Oklahoma.
Ten states were represented among the 13 competitors. The Delta Grand National Double Reed contest judges were renowned duck callers Sean Stahl, Scott Dickerson, and Eric Stand.
