Board Member | Birmingham, Alabama

Jesse Vogtle Jr. joined the Delta Waterfowl Board of Directors in July of 2025.

He is a partner in the Birmingham, Alabama, office of Holland & Knight LLP, a full-service law firm with more than 2,200 attorneys across 36 offices in the United States and abroad. For 35 years, Vogtle has delivered comprehensive solutions in complex commercial Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases and pre-bankruptcy workouts.

A lifelong conservationist, Vogtle developed an early fascination with natural resource management and conservation strategy. He is a graduate of Leadership Alabama and a past chairman and director emeritus of the Birmingham Zoo. He also formerly served as president of the Alabama Wildlife Federation—the state’s oldest and largest nonprofit conservation organization. The organization’s 59-member board supports outdoor classroom opportunities for youth throughout the state and engages in projects such as oyster reef construction and maintenance, nearshore and offshore reef building, and other conservation strategies for the state’s abundant wild game resources.

Vogtle earned a degree in finance and business administration from the University of Alabama in 1985, followed by a law degree from the same institution in 1988. Since his college years, Vogtle has been dedicated to building local duck habitats and raising funds for national and international efforts to support and expand game bird populations.

He and his wife Laura have five grown children—Stringer, Alli, Hays, Rhoades, and Florie—all of whom are avid wing shooters and fly fishers.
