Seasonal Waterfowl Nest Searching Technician Positions
Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and South Dakota
EMPLOYMENT PERIOD:
4/15/2025 to 8/1/2025 – Technician Positions (flexible start and end dates)
POSITION SUMMARY:
Delta Waterfowl is seeking several technicians to fill a variety of positions this upcoming field season. Applicants will conduct a variety of tasks including nest dragging and overwater nest searching, conducting Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) surveys, nest monitoring, pair and brood surveys. Housing is provided at all field sites and compensation for these positions will vary depending on the position but will be a minimum of $15/hour (USD) plus the opportunity for overtime.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Must have received or be working towards a bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Management or a closely related field.
- The ability to accurately identify waterfowl is critical, especially hens.
- Must be able to navigate using a handheld GPS and legal land description maps.
- Must have good communication skills and reliable data entry and note-taking skills.
- Ability to perform assigned responsibilities with minimal supervision.
- A valid driver’s license and clean driving record is required.
- Must possess or be able to get a valid US or Canadian UAV pilot license (MB, SK, and SD positions only; instructions and study materials will be provided and Delta will provide additional training).
- Must have or be able to quickly obtain a passport for working in Canada (for positions in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Manitoba).
- Ability to stand, bend, lift heavy objects, walk over uneven ground, and complete physically demanding tasks on a routine basis.
