North Dakota Chapter Supports Youth Shooting Sports

Young shotgunners are benefitting from the generosity and skillful fundraising of the West Dakota Waterfowlers Chapter of Delta Waterfowl. Demonstrating a commitment to the future of the shooting sports, the chapter recently donated substantial sums to the South Prairie High School trap team of Minot, North Dakota, and the Minot Area Youth Sportsman’s Club program.

The South Prairie trap team was presented a check for $500, which Coach Wayne Stanley will use to purchase clay targets and ammunition for practice, and to aid in transportation to North Dakota High School Trap League events.

The Minot Area Youth Sportsman’s Club received a check for $3,000 to help offset the costs of shotshells, clays and other expenses. The club boosts youth participation in the shooting sports by allowing area kids to shoot trap free of charge. It’s grown steadily over the past several years, and currently has 117 participants.

West Dakota Waterfowlers chairman Craig Lovelace, outgoing chairman Chad Beggs and committee member Brian Fricke were on hand to present the checks.

“We’re honored to be able to support local youth shooting sports,” Lovelace said. “It helps preserve the sport, and the kids will remember the experience for the rest of their lives.”
