Delta Waterfowl Urges Prompt Passage of 2018 U.S. Farm Bill

For immediate release
Dec. 11, 2018

On Monday night, members of the Farm Bill Conference Committee released the final conference report which provides the details of the 2018 U.S. Farm Bill. The massive piece of legislation includes support for our nation’s farmers and ranchers, funds nutrition support programs, and also is the largest funding mechanism for conservation on working farms and ranches across the country.

This new Farm Bill is the culmination of incredible effort by congressional leaders, their dedicated staffs and a number of constituent groups, all working to formulate the best-possible piece of legislation. Core programing that will benefit ducks and duck hunters is very well served in the bill.

“We want to extend our gratitude to the conferees and their staffs for putting forth a bill that is good for farmers and makes important investments in conservation that will be good for ducks and duck hunters,” said Dr. Frank Rohwer, president of Delta Waterfowl.

The previous Farm Bill, which was signed into law in 2014, expired on Sept. 30.

The House and Senate will consider the conference report, and vote on whether to advance the bill to the President Trump’s desk for his signature.

“We urge House and Senate leadership to ensure the prompt passage of the bill, and for the President to sign it quickly so that implementation can begin immediately,” Rohwer said. “Farmers, ranchers and conservation interests need the certainty of a Farm Bill.”
