John grew up in the southwest Ohio outdoors. Ultimately, a job opportunity took him to Missouri, and that’s where he learned about Delta Waterfowl. He got to know the regional director and began attending the local banquet each year. His two boys attended local chapter events and youth hunts.

Fast forward a few years, the opportunity became available to be the regional director “back home” for Ohio, Indiana and Michigan. John jumped at the chance. Waterfowl hunting is deeply rooted in his family’s history, so he felt this was a chance he couldn’t pass up!

John has an associate’s degree in fish and wildlife management from Hocking College and a bachelor’s degree from West Virginia University in wildlife and fisheries resources. He most enjoys working with other passionate people! He says that their passion drives him to give it his all for them, and that’s what he is surrounded with at Delta.

The thing it would be impossible for him to give up is his family. John and his wife have been together for more than 20 years and have three children — Adam, Wade and Claire — all of whom love the outdoors.

John’s favorite style of hunting is field hunting for ducks and geese. He says, “I can be a bit clumsy when it comes to walking in water, so knowing I have sure footing on land makes me much more comfortable.” On colder hunts, he says the heat generated by his 7-year-old Lab “Zeke”, from behind his layout blind backrest, makes for an excellent heater!
